An island is more than land in the sea—
it is a place of beauty, calm, and retreat.
A pause from the rush,
a return to stillness,
a breath of open sky.

I created Isla during my time in Bali,
where the air felt spacious,
the skies wide and luminous,
and the horizon itself seemed to rest.

Light blue and white washes form the base of the canvas,
like skies reflected on water.
Olive, orange, and soft yellows move gently across the surface,
while marks in light blue, butter yellow, and mustard trace a quiet rhythm.
Hand-stitched details in shades of blue
anchor the piece with subtle texture—
gestures that hold both movement and ease.

Isla is a reminder that retreat is not escape,
but return:
to beauty,
to calm,
to the grounded rhythm of your own being.
