Sera
Original abstract painting | Acrylic and hand-stitched details on raw cotton canvas | 30 x 40 cm | Framed in natural oak
The word Sera holds many meanings—
serenity, a state of calm and peace,
and also evening:
that luminous hour when the sky glows with color,
and the world exhales into stillness.
I began this painting during my trip to Bali,
where the skies stretched wide—bright, shifting,
yet filled with a feeling of ease.
It carried both energy and rest,
an embrace of the time we need to recharge.
Earthy tones of brown, beige, and olive ground the piece,
washed with soft layers of white, yellow, and orange.
The surface blurs gently, like light fading into horizon.
Across this calm field, stitched marks in bold orange and red
pulse with presence—gestures of life,
reminders that serenity doesn’t mean silence,
but balance: a stillness that holds energy within it.
I created Sera as a reflection of that space between day and night—
where calm and vibrancy coexist,
where rest is active,
and peace feels alive.
May it remind you that serenity is not the absence of movement,
but the embrace of your own rhythm,
bright and untroubled,
clear as evening light.
